WEST FRANKFORT, IL – New information has been released regarding the arrest of West Frankfort Community High School Principal Aaron Hill. While initial reports cited allegations of serious injury, updated jail records clarify the specific nature of the felony charge.
The Charges
Aaron Hill, 53, is charged with Aggravated Battery based on location (720 ILCS 5/12-3.05(c)).
• Classification: Class 3 Felony.
• Specifics: Court records indicate the charge is based on a battery occurring on a public way or public property. Unlike other forms of aggravated battery, this specific statute applies even in instances involving minor or no injury and no dangerous weapon.
• Bond: Records list his bond status as N/A.
District Response
West Frankfort Superintendent Matt Donkin previously confirmed that the investigation stems from an incident unrelated to the school district and did not involve any students.
"The investigation is tied to an incident that occurred outside of school property," Donkin stated.
Current Status
Hill remains on administrative leave with pay, a status effective as of Tuesday. An order of protection was reportedly filed against Hill earlier this month in Franklin County.
This remains an active investigation. Further details will be provided as they become available.
